The Coolsculpting™ Procedure
The CoolSculpting® technique is so gentle that no anesthesia is required. When you receive treatment with Coolsculpting™ at Dr. Mountcastle’s Ashburn, Leesburg, or Reston practice, you will be free to comfortably read, relax, listen to music or watch TV for the duration of the procedure. Depending on the area being treated, the entire procedure may last between one and three hours.
Using mild vacuum pressure, the tissue being treated is drawn into a cup, where it is placed between two cooling plates. The plates press against the tissue, freezing local fat cells without damaging the surrounding tissue and skin. The body’s natural inflammatory response will eventually cause the damaged fat cells to be reabsorbed and eliminated by the body, resulting in a slimmer, smoother silhouette.
After the procedure, most patients return immediately to work. Since Zeltiq™’s innovative CoolSculpting® technique eliminates all injections, incisions and even lasers, no downtime is required. Some patients may experience normal reactions including redness, bruising and pins and needles in the treated areas, but these minor symptoms should resolve within several days after treatment.
Results
